BuyBlurb (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a product operated by Arminger Studio LLC and provides tools that help Shopify merchants generate short, clear product blurbs directly inside the Shopify admin. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the BuyBlurb app or visit our website.
We keep things simple, transparent, and secure. We do not sell your data, we do not share your information for advertising purposes, and we only collect what is necessary for the app to function properly.
1. Information We Collect
Shop Data
When you install BuyBlurb through Shopify, we receive access to certain shop data via Shopify’s APIs. This includes your store name, store URL, owner email, and basic shop settings. We also receive access to Shopify metafields so we can store the blurbs you generate.
Product Data
To generate blurbs, we read your product title and product description. We do not collect or access other product details unless required for the specific feature you use (such as the optional additional input source).
Generated Content
Blurbs created by the app are saved to your Shopify product metafields. These blurbs belong to you. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not reuse your blurbs for training or marketing.
Usage Data
We track basic usage and billing-related information, such as how many blurbs you generate and which plan you’re on. This helps enforce plan limits and provide accurate billing.
Website Data
If you visit buyblurb.com, we collect basic analytics such as page views, device information, and referrer data. This is standard, anonymized web analytics and does not identify you personally.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the BuyBlurb app
- Generate blurbs based on your product descriptions
- Store your blurbs in Shopify metafields
- Maintain billing, plan limits, and usage logs
- Improve app quality, performance, and support
- Communicate with you about updates or issues
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing.
3. How AI Processing Works
BuyBlurb uses OpenAI’s API to generate blurbs based on product descriptions you provide. When you click “Generate,” we send only the necessary product text (title, description, and optional custom instructions) to OpenAI’s servers for processing.
We use OpenAI’s API under their commercial data usage policies, which state that customer data submitted via the API is not used to train OpenAI models.
We never send financial data, customer PII, or any information outside what is required for generating your blurb.
4. How We Store and Protect Your Information
BuyBlurb stores only the minimum amount of data required to operate the app. This may include your shop ID, plan level, usage history, and settings. Product blurbs are stored directly inside your Shopify metafields, not our database.
All data is transmitted using secure HTTPS connections. We follow industry best practices for secure storage, access control, and API communication.
5. Your Rights and Control
- You may update or delete any blurb in your Shopify admin at any time.
- You may uninstall the BuyBlurb app at any time. Upon uninstall, Shopify automatically revokes our API access to your store.
- Shop-level account data is retained for up to 180 days to support reinstallation and account recovery, after which it is permanently deleted unless otherwise required by law.
- Blurbs stored in your product metafields remain yours even after uninstalling—nothing is removed from your store automatically.
6. Data Retention
We retain shop-level account information (such as your shop ID, plan level, usage history, and settings) for up to 180 days after you uninstall the BuyBlurb app. This retention period allows merchants to reinstall the app without losing their previous configuration or settings. After 180 days from uninstall, shop-level data is permanently deleted from our systems unless we are legally required to retain it for compliance or billing purposes. If you would like your data deleted sooner, you may contact us at [email protected] and we will process your request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
We do not retain your product descriptions or generated blurbs outside of Shopify.
7. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share your data except when necessary to provide the service or comply with legal requirements. This includes:
- Shopify (as part of normal app operation via APIs)
- OpenAI (for text generation)
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that help run the app securely
We do not sell or license your information.
8. Children’s Privacy
BuyBlurb is intended for businesses, not individuals or children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this document.
10. Data Deletion Requests
If you would like to request deletion of your shop data before the end of the retention period, please contact [email protected] with your store URL. We will verify ownership and process the request within a reasonable timeframe.
